At Research Triangle AI Society, we are driven by a dedicated team of leaders committed to advancing our mission and making a positive impact in the community.

Administrative Team

Our administrative team works tirelessly to manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of our programs and services.

  • Guoliang Cao, President & Co-founder

    Guoliang CaoWith a Master's degree in Computer Science and extensive IT industry experience, Guoliang specializes in artificial intelligence technologies, including deep learning, large language models, and AI-assisted programming. His commitment to community service is reflected in his leadership roles at a prominent Chinese school in New Jersey, where he served as vice principal and board member. Since moving to North Carolina, Guoliang has fostered AI education and collaboration by organizing numerous technical seminars and meetups.

     
  • He Huang (Eric), Vice President & Co-founder

    Eric brings nearly two decades of industry experience across software development, architectural design and security assessment. He is passionate about innovation and advanced technologies. Eric holds a Ph. D. degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.

     

  • Dr. Henan Li, Vice President & Co-founder

    Henan combines a research-oriented background with a deep passion for technology. An avid tech enthusiast, he is a self-taught programmer proficient in Python, R, and web development. Since 2023, Henan has been actively exploring the evolving AI landscape, driven by curiosity and a commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
     

  • Wenzhi Li, Vice President & Co-founder

    Wenzhi LiWenzhi is a senior professional with a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Business Administration and over 20 years of experience in Healthcare Software Engineering and Management. He has dedicated over a decade to volunteering in various non-profit organizations, serving as the Principal of the Raleigh Academy of Chinese Language, Chairman of the Jiangxi Association of NC, and a board member of NC CAFA.
     

  • Yi Li (Damson), Vice President & Co-founder

    With a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a solid background in the IT field, Yi has built a career centered on innovative technologies. Deeply committed to community growth, he has served as a volunteer, principal, and chairman of the board at a leading nonprofit language and cultural educational organization in New Jersey. He has also voluntarily been a coach of a local robotic team in First Lego League. Since 2024, Yi has worked and supported on various initiatives, including tech workshops and collaborative AI projects.
     

  • Allie Geng, Treasurer & Co-founder

    Allie combines a Master's degree in Accounting with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, bringing 20 years of financial expertise across for-profit and non-profit organizations. Beyond her professional work, she actively serves her community as a Board Member and Director of Registration at the local Chinese school, where she has volunteered for over five years.

     

  • Dr. Yuelong Guo (John), Vice President

    With a solid statistical foundation and an early introduction to computer vision through donkey car robotics projects, John has consistently pursued cutting-edge AI technologies. His industry experience spans deep learning applications for histology imaging for oncology patients and the application of large language models in mining electronic health record systems. Driven by a passion for transformative innovation, John continues to explore the frontiers of AI and robotics.

     

  • Dr. Ruiwen Zhang, Vice President

    Ruiwen ZhangWith over a decade of research experience, Dr. Ruiwen Zhang has made impactful contributions to the fields of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Her research has been published in top-tier journals and conferences. She also holds multiple patents for innovative machine learning techniques, including those leveraging Generative Adversarial Networks and Transformer-based models. Her research bridges the gap between academic theory and practical, real-world AI applications, driving both academic progress and industry advancements.

     

  • Dr. Hongbin Gu, Vice President

    Hongbin GuFor over three decades, Dr. Hongbin Gu has been a cornerstone and well known to our community as a scientist, volunteer, public servant, and now entrepreneur.
    She came to UNC Chapel Hill in 1995 and graduated with a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience and MS in Statistics. She spent over 15 years as an associate professor at the UNC Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, leading NIH funded studies and using machine learning prediction models to help autism early identification and intervention.  Her papers have been published in top world medicine  journals of Nature Medicine, JAMA, and NEJM.
    In 2017, she channeled her quantitative expertise in data analytics into public service, making history as the first Chinese American elected to public office in North Carolina by serving on the Chapel Hill Town Council.
    She now brings her analytical expertise and unique experiences in academia and government to her new entrepreneurial venture, providing consulting services and analytical solutions to local governments, small businesses, and nonprofits.

  • Ruijie Zhou (Kelly), Director

    Kelly ZhouWith a Master’s degree in Education and extensive leadership in cross-cultural education and workforce development, Ruijie (Kelly) Zhou specializes in AI-driven curriculum design, bilingual training, and global talent mobility. She has led international education initiatives connecting U.S. and Chinese institutions, including large-scale K-12 AI education programs and national youth competitions. As an education innovator and founder of Career Mister, Ms. Zhou has built scalable frameworks for AI-based reskilling and inclusive workforce development, advancing STEM education and global career readiness.

  • Lei He (Kelvin), Director

    Lei HeWith master's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Economics, Kelvin brings over a decade of experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence. His work bridges research and engineering by uniting a deep understanding of models, systems, and data pipelines to achieve measurable improvements in inference speed and scalability. He continues to explore the intersection of AI research, hardware innovation, and enterprise applications, seeking new ways to make AI more accessible, efficient, and impactful.

 

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors provides strategic guidance, oversight, and governance, ensuring the organization stays true to its mission.

The initial board of RTAI is composed of the six co-founders.
